Dating the Destiny

I have seen twenty three spring seasons in my life. I have neither heard nor have I seen any successful nation which is laid back and waiting for something to happen on its own. In country like ours, where the greatest religion of all (Islam) prevails since it came into being, we are sitting idle and waiting things to happen on its own.

The major contributor to this problem is the concepts of “Fate, Destiny, Kismet, Muqaddar”. All of them have almost same meaning i.e. pre-determined course of events. When we believe in something like “pre-determined course of events” we tend rationalize things to our comfort i.e. what could I/we/they do? It was destined to happen this way.
I don’t remember the name of the book but I do remember that Wasif Ali Wasif (Rehmt. A) said

“Destiny is nothing but that just happened in past, Its up to you how you can tailor your present into past”

Since then I’m firm believer of it.

Yes, I know many would disagree with me and Wasif Ali Wasif (I am in no possible way comparing myself to Wasif Ali Wasif Rehmt. A) and may quote several religious and non-religious arguments. But it’ll never solve instead it will open Pandora box and a new logical paradox sort of a situation will emerge. It is always a difficult concept to savvy. People having former belief in destiny merely react to the situation. They love sitting idle and play the waiting game.

All those nations which are considered to be successful, they act proactively rather reactively. They dictate destiny to favor them. Lady luck only smiles at them. She doesn’t bother to take a look at a nation who is looking for things to happen on its own. Successful nations date the destiny and enjoy their course to success.

If we want to be successful and leading we must date the destiny. Destiny is only dictated by those or attracted to those who think “Yes, they can”. The “can do” attitude matters a lot. Bear in mind; to get the biscuit, one must risk it. Complacency never pays, but makes the complacent pay.

  1. welllllll….. A very good one. this topic is very sensitive and very prone to sensitivity. I completely agree with whatever u have described dear gillani. However, i would like to add some thing…..i once read it in some very authentic religious book, that only 5 things have been specified from Allah pak. 1- amount of whatever we eat… 2- total time of sleep in whole life… 3- age (can be extended by someone’s prayers)… 4- life partner (nature of life partner can be changed based on doings but life partner will b same)… 5- Place of birth and death…. So, everything else is set, determined and achieved by any individual by him/herself. Thanks.

  2. Good one. I want to add that our nation has not been sitting idle because they do not want to do anything, but it is because most of them have no time to do anything as they are so busy in keeping their families safe and fed if possible at all. They are so consumed with just trying to live that they cant possibly be expected to do anything. Those who can do something do not know what to do. They more often than not end up doing the wrong things. Those who know what to do are not doing it because either they are hopeless about future and do not think that anything is salvageable at present. Those who are hopeful and know what to do are too few, but having said that, we do not need many. One will do.

    • @M Arslan Rahim: Thanx for the appreciation. Yep I agree with you. You rightly mentioned the reasons, may I add, these are the same reasons we are not witnessing any kind of needed breakthrough in the form of revolution.

Special thanx foe sharing such a wonderful quote of Wasif Ali Wasif (Rehmt. A)

Looking forward for more feedback from you

  3. Again a great job has been done by you and with passage of time you are improving in the process of pondering and analyzing things and intriguing yourself in world of thoughts and u knows it’s saying by Albert Einstein that “Imagination is more important than Knowledge.” So keep it up……….
I like to mention one of Quranic Verse which would cover the meaning of destiny
“Allah changes not the conditions of a people until they change their own condition.”(13:11) Quran clearly emanated that Taqtir requires both thinking and acting for it does not indicate in any way to remain inactive and accepting one’s fate.
No doubt that real meaning for essence to progress and respect in commit of Nations is to follow the path of Action. Fatalistic approach which is now apart of our mentality is by pursing the path of “Passing the Bucks”. Allah has given the innate abilities or competence to human beings so need is mend these ones and act accordingly.
One of glorious piece of poetry which has uncovered the same message
“Khuda Nay Aaj Tak Uss Qoom Ki Halat Nahi Badlee
Na Ho Jis Ko Kayal Aap Apni Halat Kay Badlain Ka”
So those nations who are escapists and fatalist, generally remain uninitiated and prefer not to confront realities always suffer and remain deprive of any success. So dire need is create a change by utilizing all the potential of masses to make a name in commit of Nations.
I do agree with you that every individual should have “can do” attitude in order to be successful.
